What is Prahran Mission?

Prahran Mission is a not-for-profit community services organisation, providing support and practical assistance to thousands of people experiencing economic disadvantage and/or mental illness and undertaking research in-house to develop and deliver creative skills based recovery programs for those living with mental illness.

 

Prahran Mission provides 16 programs across four key service areas:

 

Day Rehabilitation

delivers a range of programs that develop social living and creative skills to assist consumers who experience mental illness.

 

Home-Based Outreach Support

includes Mothers Support, Community Aged Care Packages and community housing programs.

 

Education Employment & Training

JobSupply Personnel assists the longer term unemployed to find work and provides accredited hospitality training.

 

Community Services

provides material aid, childcare and other community outreach services.

 

Prahran Mission has its own in-house Chaplain, and a non-denominational service is held weekly. The Chaplain also extends her service into the wider community with home and hospital visits.

 

Fast Facts

While 62% of the Mission’s annual revenue is sourced from government agencies, the balance of 38% is funded through personal donations, trusts and foundations and bequest income.
 

The Mission assists 3,500 people annually.

 

The Mission’s cafeteria serves over 25,000 meals annually.

 

Prahran Mission is an agency of UnitingCare, Australia’s largest community service provider that nationally employs more than 35,000 staff and receives support from over 24,000 volunteers to assist almost 1.9 million people annually.
