Stables Art StudioWhat is the Stables Art Studio?Located in Burke Road, Malvern, the Stables Art Studio is a not-for-profit art studio, run by Prahran Mission. It provides a space for artists with experience of mental illness in which to practice their art. The studio aims to provide a stimulating artistic community where aspiring artists can explore their creative endeavours at a low cost.
What do we provide?The Studio provides its members with all drawing and painting mediums, a variety of papers and equipment such as small etching press and airbrush and compressor. The Studio offers a friendly environment in which artists can interact with like minded people, exchange ideas or simply work independently. The Stables also offers information on local art related events, exhibitions and competitions etc.
People wishing to join are required to complete an application form and attend an interview, and bring with them a folio of 6 - 8 pieces of work.
How much does it cost?Membership Fees
Who can join?Those who have had an experience of mental illness and can demonstrate they are able to work independently with limited supervision.
Applicants must be willing to undertake some responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of the Studio.
People wishing to join are required to complete an application form and attend an interview, and bring with them a photo of 6 - 8 pieces of work.
