Voices Vic Carers & Family

Carers and family members of voice hearers often tell us they need more information and support.  Voices Vic is keen to provide this wherever we can, and we recognise that the distress which can be associated with hearing voices is often not restricted to just the voice hearer - but also to those closest to them.

In May 2010, Voices Vic partnered with Ron Coleman and a number of organisations to provide four information days about voices for carers and family.  These were well received, and we hope to offer further sessions like this in the future.

NEW PROJECT!

Targeting Regional Victoria

Voices Vic is starting a new project to increase information and support to voice hearers, carers/families, and communities in regional Victoria.

We plan to deliver:

  • Community forums & education campaigns to tackle stigma
  • Carer/family workshops to increase understanding and skills to support and cope
  • New regional peer support groups
  • A new on-line peer support group

In its first year this project will focus on three regional areas:

  1. Ballarat
  2. Gippsland
  3. Mildura – Swan Hill
