Back on Trak CD for Sale
Back on Trak features seven tracks of original music and lyrics by Prahran Mission participants who have developed their craft over the last 12 months. The title Back on Trak was jointly selected by both participants and Trak Live Lounge to show how music has enabled them to get back on track and move forward with their lives. The CD Back on Trak is now available for $20 from the Mission Op Shops in Chapel St and Dandenong, The Mission Cafe, or at level 3 reception at 211 Chapel Street. Watch this space for a short film about the project, coming very soon!
Hearing voices is a common human experience.
Prahran Mission's innovative consumer-led program supports people who hear voices, their support and clinical workers, and families, friends and carers.
In 2012 Voices Vic won a Gold Achievement Award at The Mental Health Services (TheMHS) Conference, and the impact of our work continues to offer hope and recovery to people across Victoria.
The World Hearing Voices Congress 2013
The congress is now over, but what an event it was! Inspiring, collaborative, filled with heart and brilliant ideas.
Many new ideas and projects kicked off at the congress and we will share more about these in the coming weeks, including:
The Melbourne Declaration
The Voices of Partnership & Reconciliation Project
The open space dialogues from last day of congress
A cloud site to share your photos of the congress with us
How to contribute to the congress 'book of proceedings'
News from Yeni Rosa about her work with voice hearers in Indonesia
Want to share about your experience of congress? We'll launch an evaluation page early next week. In the meantime please join the conversation on Facebook
To the elders of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation for welcoming us onto their land
To our sponsors, exhibitors and supporters for helping us make the congress happen
To our team of staff and volunteers for making everything run so well, and everyone feel so welcome
To our delegates for joining us on this special journey to understanding
Do you hear voices?
You are not alone.
We help set-up peer support groups for voice hearers, deliver talks and information sessions about the voice hearing experience, and run training about recovery from voices. We also run individual peer support in our Voice Exchange program.
Our work is open to voice hearers, mental health professionals, and family, friends and carers of voice hearers.
We work with the hearing voices approach, which is informed by the wisdom of people who have recovered. We don’t try to get rid of voices, but instead work to help people make sense of them and eventually change the relationship with the voices.
